To learn more about our purpose, culture, and priorities, visit our strategy site.Within our consult business, we harness our unique combination of leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every project.The project: We are currently recruiting for a talented, motivated and ambitious Estimator to join our expanding infrastructure commercial consultancy team.Associate Director – EstimatingThe estimating function shall ensure that cost plans are robust, integrated, represent value for money, and are supported by consistent internal and external benchmarking data. It will also ensure that the Scope of Services is held as an integrated baseline (scope, cost & time) within Infrastructure Project Controls Systems. The estimating function shall also assist in pricing risk and change values.You’ll Be Responsible ForManagement of the Estimating and Cost planning Process for the whole or a section of works.Setting an Estimating plan and strategy with the team and ensuring compliancePreparing Initial cost plans at Pre-Concept and Concept stagesRefining the Cost plans through all stages to detailed design arriving at full estimatesQuantificationLiaising with specialists and contractors to obtain cost advice and dataBenchmarking both cost and functional spaces and quantities.Cost data analysis, including researching appropriate cost data for use within the estimates and refining to reflect project specific requirementsIdentifying key cost drivers and briefing the team to drive design to a solution within budgetProducing reports at various stagesWorking with design and construction teams and providing commercial and cost adviceChange control contribution to ensure budgets reflect the current scopeChallenge and contribute to alternative solutions to ensure budgets are maintainedValue management and Value Engineering, commercial inputUnderstanding of three point estimating techniques including application of levels of uncertainty, risk, and modelling of estimatesAbility to produce cost plans and estimates that take into account site specific requirements, construction methods, and allowances for temporary and abortive works.Ability to develop estimating and cost planning risk models and assess the potential time and cost impact of sameUnderstanding of cost drivers associated with major projects and the impact these could have on cost plans and estimatesAbility to determine, define, and record all assumptions, exclusions, data sources, and caveatsYou’ll Need To HaveEstimating experience on major infrastructure projectsExtensive Estimating or Cost planning experience with a Contractor or ConsultancyWorked previously with Design teams with understanding of what drives design decisionsAbility to analyse cost and quantity data including key driversResearching data and ability to analyse and adjust for specific cost drivers such as location etc.Working as a team member alongside the Project Manager to help drive projects to the right solutions within budget.Understanding and experience of BenchmarkingAbility to build estimates from first principlesProducing estimates from benchmark data and limited information.Working with detailed design to produce estimateWorking with limited design information with ability to understand what is not detailed on the drawingsUnderstanding and experience of estimating systems including CATOBe able to present work in a clear and concise mannerPreparation of reports which are clear and identify key messages and costsPresentations to clients and stakeholders if requiredMeasurement for buildings and/or Civil engineeringYou’ll Also HaveDegree Qualified Preferred – Quantity Surveying or appropriate relatedProfessional Qualifications likely to have or preferred – RICS / CIOB / ICEMace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
