Overview Associate Director, MEP, Rail role at WSP. A Little About Your Role The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business seeks an Associate Director MEP (Rail) to lead teams delivering Rail MEP Building Services for major railway projects. You will be involved in all aspects of technical delivery from concept to RIBA 4/GRIP 5 stages, client engagement and internal multidisciplinary coordination. This role offers opportunities to advance your career and contribute to prestigious rail projects in the UK and overseas. Key responsibilities include:
Leading Rail stations M&E design teams. Coordinating M&E design with clients and contractors. Serving as the focal point between the Client Team and the WSP Design team. Working closely with the M&E Design team to resolve design issues. Leading and mentoring a team of M&E engineers. Applying knowledge of the design of Rail stations mechanical, electrical and public health systems; knowledge of Telecoms and Fire systems is an added advantage. Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Part L and other MEP sustainable and Net Zero design requirements. Delivering highly sustainable, low-carbon designs to support WSP’s and our clients’ net-zero ambitions. Sharing knowledge across the wider WSP business and working with colleagues globally; delivering high-quality construction engineering solutions. Interpreting client specifications and applicable standards in the development of designs. Maintaining contractual and commercial awareness of Employer’s Instructions, Early Warnings and other contractual communications.

Work closely with like-minded professionals on exciting projects. Rail Station MEP team comprises more than 100 mechanical, electrical and public health engineers. Collaborate with a diverse, qualified team to undertake project work from concept through detail design. Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors and private developers.
Reporting to the MEP Service Lead of our stations team, this role offers the opportunity to work on exciting multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects globally. Experience of leading an M&E building services design team in the Rail environment during design and construction stages. Chartership with a UK engineering institution is required. Understanding of HS2, Network Rail and/or London Underground standards; M&E building services design requirements in Rail or similar regulated environments; and experience working with M&E clients/contractors during initial and detailed design, preferably during construction.
