AKT II is seeking a highly motivated Chartered Structural Engineer to join our team at Associate Director level in Cambridge, England, United Kingdom.Discipline: Structural EngineeringLocation: CambridgeWe’re looking for someone with a proven track record in structural design and project management on major developments. You’ll bring a strong understanding of the construction industry, along with experience managing the design phase of complex projects — including financial oversight and design coordination.As a Associate Director your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Lead and deliver structural engineering projects from concept through to construction, ensuring quality, efficiency, and complianceManage project teams and resources, including programme planning, budgeting, and performance reviewsAct as the primary technical contact for clients, attending design meetings and presenting design ideas clearlyOversee financial control of projects, including fee proposals, invoicing support, and identifying additional opportunitiesCoordinate with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure integrated, value-driven design solutionSupport innovation, promote cross-disciplinary working, and contribute to continuous improvement across the practiceEnsure health, safety, quality, and environmental standards are met throughout project deliveryRequired Skills:Excellent technical background in the design of building structures in all traditional materialsGood communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrate experience in managing and leading teams and projects across a range of industry sectorsEnthusiastic, pro-active and able to work on their own initiativeProven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budgetPrevious exposure with developers, major contractors, clients of both national and local authorities as well as leading Architects is highly desirableQualifications And Experience:Good degree in EngineeringFellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body i.e. CEng MIStructE / MICEMust have relevant experience of the management and delivery of design for major building projectsExperienced in the delivery of complete lifecycle projects through to completionStrong general design knowledge with the ability to work closely with architects and other professionals to develop coordinated designs from concept to constructionA familiarity with relevant design codes in concrete, steel and timber design is essentialExperience working with clients, designers, and contractors, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and deliver high-quality design solutionsWe offer a competitive salary, a vibrant social calendar, and many company-funded events and activities.
