  • Role Overview

    The Broadcast Director will be responsible for overseeing live and pre-recorded studio productions, ensuring seamless broadcast delivery to the highest technical and editorial standards. This role requires a blend of creative direction, technical expertise, and team coordination to maintain high-quality output. The individual will work closely with producers, presenters, engineers, and studio assistants to manage camera operations, vision mixing, clip management, and overall broadcast flow.

    Key Responsibilities

    Pre-Broadcast

  • Ensure proper camera setup and lineup as required.

  • Review and save pre-loaded shots on the shot selection screen.

  • Attend production meetings to identify and record all required shots in collaboration with producers and studio assistants.

  • Support Engineers in identifying and resolving technical issues before the broadcast.

  • Broadcast

  • Direct and vision mix live output in line with editorial guidance from presenters and producers.

  • Maintain optimal video and audio levels throughout broadcasts.

  • Cue VT clips, plasma loops, and promo breaks accurately.

  • Operate and vision mix up to 6 cameras to achieve desired shots.

  • Ensure correct product recordings are played on-air.

  • Verify promo live list before each promo break.

  • Direct and coordinate studio assistants during live broadcasts.

  • Follow handover procedures for breaks and shift transitions.

  • Respond to and manage emergencies during non-live hours as needed.

  • Qualifications & Skills

    General Knowledge & Skills

  • Degree or equivalent qualification preferred.

  • Proven experience in a similar broadcast or studio role.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and PC-based packages.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Polite, friendly, and assertive demeanor.

  • Functional Expertise

  • Experience with Kayak vision mixer (preferred).

  • Ability to operate studio cameras, pedestals, and DVE systems.

  • Knowledge of talk-back systems, microphones, and teleprompter operation (preferably live broadcast).

  • Experience in operating video clip server systems (e.g., K2 video server).

  • Ability to manage studio lighting rigs and control systems.

  • Understanding of composite, analogue, and SD/HD signal workflows.
