Base pay range
We are excited to be the retained search partner for a business with a longstanding reputation of excellence in the forklift truck industry. It is one of the UK’s market leaders in providing forklift trucks for both rental and sale.
Following a continued period of high growth, we are now looking to appoint a Trading Director. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving growth, improving profitability, and shaping the commercial strategy of the business. You will lead and optimize all revenue-generating activities, acting as the go-to person for buying and selling, pricing, and order taking.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy across sales, rentals, service, and aftersales.
- Lead and manage the sales teams to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Identify new market opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand the customer base.
- Oversee pricing, contract negotiation, and customer relationship management.
- Collaborate with operations and finance to ensure commercial goals align with business capabilities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Report on commercial performance and contribute to SLT discussions and planning.
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for an experienced, commercially astute individual with proven experience in a senior commercial role within the forklift truck industry.
- Strong understanding of both sales and rental business models.
- Excellent leadership and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded with a track record of delivering revenue growth and profitability.
- Comfortable working in a fast and high-growth business environment with a hands-on approach.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Skilled in negotiating high-value deals and managing contracts.
- Excellent knowledge of pricing and margin optimization, with creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to inspire, coach, and hold teams accountable.
- Focused on customer satisfaction.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.
Please note this is an office-based role with some flexible working.
