Construction Director – HousebuildingLocation: Exeter, DevonAbout the Role:We’re working with a leading residential developer to recruit an experienced Construction Director to join their South West region, based from their Exeter office.This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior construction professional to take ownership of multiple large-scale housing and residential development projects across the region. You’ll oversee all aspects of construction operations – including project planning, budgeting, quality assurance, health & safety, and team performance – ensuring every project is delivered on time, to budget, and to the highest standards.This is a key leadership role within the regional board, offering real influence over business strategy and delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the regional construction function across multiple housing developments.Oversee project planning, programme management, and operational delivery.Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.Work collaboratively with commercial, technical, and sales teams to ensure successful delivery.Drive continuous improvement in site safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.Report to senior leadership on progress, performance, and risk management.Manage recruitment, development, and performance across the construction team.Provide input into new business opportunities and project feasibility.About YouProven experience as a Construction Director, Head of Construction, or Operations Director within the housebuilding or residential development sector.Strong leadership and team management skills with experience overseeing multiple projects.Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, programming, and commercial performance.Track record of delivering high-quality, safe, and profitable developments.Confident communicator with the ability to influence at board level.Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and PLC processes.SMSTS, First Aid, and relevant H&S training required.Degree in Construction Management or related field (desirable).In ReturnSalary circa £110,000Car Allowance of £7500 or company car optionImpressive bonus schemeUp to 33 days annual leave plus bank holidaysPrivate medical insuranceEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveOther company benefitsOur Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:As a recruitment agency, we are committed to promoting inclusive opportunities on behalf of our clients.
