A leading travel business, whose strong technology focus has differentiated it in the market, is seeking a Design Director to lead its design function and drive strategic growth. This role combines hands-on design leadership with operational oversight, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, efficient digital experiences across web, mobile, and emerging channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the overarching design strategy in alignment with business priorities.
  • Maintain consistency, accessibility, and excellence across all digital touchpoints.
  • Introduce AI and data-driven practices to streamline design workflows and enhance insight.
  • Expand and optimise design systems, operational frameworks, and performance metrics.
  • Coach and grow senior design managers and individual contributors.
  • Drive measurable outcomes from design initiatives, including conversion, retention, and operational efficiency.
  • Advise leadership on strategic decisions and resource allocation.
  • Oversee design budgets and manage vendor relationships for optimal results.

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in product or UX design, including leadership of multi-disciplinary teams (5+ years) in high-volume consumer tech or e-commerce environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering mobile app experiences alongside web platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver design-led initiatives that produce measurable business impact.
  • Strong expertise in service design, visual and interaction design, accessibility, and design systems.
  • Skilled in scaling teams, processes, and design operations within fast-growing businesses.
  • Confident and persuasive leader capable of influencing at all organisational levels.
