We are now seeking an outstanding Director of Corporate Affairs to join the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the Chief Executive, this is a pivotal role providing senior leadership of corporate governance, legal services, patient experience, and information governance, acting as the senior advisor to the Chair, Chief Executive and Board to ensure governance, regulatory compliance, and public accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead on Board and committee governance, ensuring effective agenda setting, information flow, and decision-tracking.
• Maintain and develop the Board Assurance Framework, support strategic decision-making, and advise on all corporate governance matters, particularly where political or public sensitivity is a factor.
• Oversee complaints, legal services, PALS, and patient experience, ensuring that learning from feedback informs service improvement.
• Manage a skilled team, provide visible and motivational leadership, and ensure that corporate governance systems are fit for purpose and responsive to changing demands.

Qualifications

• Substantial senior-level experience in corporate governance within a complex organisation, including the NHS, central or local government, or from candidates in a similarly regulated sector.
• Combination of intellectual acuity with tact, diplomacy, and strong organisational skills.
• Proven track record in working with Boards, developing policy, and delivering measurable improvements, with the ability to inspire confidence across a diverse range of stakeholders.
