Operations Director – High-Impact Leadership in a Growth Business

We’re supporting a dynamic, fast-scaling business in the built environment as they hire an Operations Director to lead national delivery at pace. With full P&L accountability, you’ll take charge of a high-performing and growing team, delivering 1,000+ projects annually for major UK retailers and commercial clients.

This is a senior leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced setting balancing delivery, commercial oversight, and strategic scale-up.

️ Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a national team (currently 3 Senior AMs, 20+ PMs & growing)
• Oversee complex projects (£500K–£1M), ~250/month in delivery
• Bring structure and control to dynamic operations
• Collaborate with SHEQ & CI teams to embed scalable systems
• Drive consistency, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction
• Lead by example with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach

Projects include:

Retail refurbishments | HVAC upgrades | Sustainability & decarbonisation initiatives | End-to-end fit-out programmes.

✅ What We’re Looking For

Leadership & Expertise

• Strong situational leader with senior management capability
• Experience managing teams of Ops Managers and multiple PMs
• Comfortable scaling teams, refining systems, and leading through growth
• Hands-on yet strategic – balances current operations with future planning
• Brings fresh thinking and experience from growth-phase environments

Technical & Project Experience

• Mechanical, electrical, or related technical background
• Strong understanding of supply chain, procurement & delivery cycles
• Proven in high-volume project delivery and system/process improvement
• Familiarity with decarbonisation or sustainability programmes is a plus
