Overview

Saxon Weald is a housing association established in 2000, managing close to 7,000 homes across Sussex and Hampshire. They provide affordable rented and shared ownership homes for individuals and families, as well as properties for the over 55s. They are a charitable Community Benefit Society, reinvesting rents to manage, maintain and build homes. A new Chief Executive joins in early summer, and Saxon Weald is entering an exciting new chapter to deepen commitment to customers, enhance service delivery, and modernise systems to support a more responsive, inclusive, and future-ready organisation. Saxon Weald is seeking a strategic and inspirational finance leader to join the Executive Team and help shape the future of the organisation. This role offers the opportunity to lead a finance and governance function that supports Saxon Wealds mission to provide safe, secure, and affordable homes, enabling positive life chances, strengthening communities and delivering long-term social value.

Salary: £144,999 – £145,000 per year. Full time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver Saxon Weald's finance strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Provide strategic leadership across Finance and Governance, including Treasury, Financial Planning, Risk and Governance, ensuring high performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate across the business as well as with the Executive Team and the Board, delivering high-quality reports and insight that support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion value for money and risk management, embedding these principles into departmental plans and performance monitoring within a strong controls environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant with senior leadership experience, ideally within social housing or other regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of working at Director level or similar, with experience of contributing to Executive Teams and engaging effectively with Boards.
  • Strong understanding of financial strategy and risk management, with the ability to provide assurance on compliance and control environments. Experience with governance functions is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strategic skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, lead change and foster a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
