Out client is an SME technology and data business with a portfolio of innovative SaaS products which supports or strategy of supply chain excellence between the private and public sector.

As an agile SME, they combine entrepreneurial spirit with strong technical expertise, delivering solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. Owing to retirement, they are seeking a Finance Director to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy, operational performance and growth strategy of the business.

This role would be ideally suited to a commercially driven candidate who is focused on taking the next step in the progression of their career and moving into a senior leadership role.

The Role

The Finance Director will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving commercial insight to support strategic decision-making. This role goes beyond stewardship; this role will ensure sustainable growth through sound financial management, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute the company's growth strategy.
• Strategic Leadership: Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives
• Financial Management & Reporting: Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
• Financial Management & Reporting: Ensure robust cashflow management, including SaaS recurring revenue recognition and subscription metrics.
• Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee preparation of timely and accurate management accounts, board packs, and statutory reporting.
• Commercial & Operational Finance: Drive pricing strategies, margin analysis, and profitability improvement across the SaaS product portfolio.
• Commercial & Operational Finance: Provide insights into product performance, customer acquisition costs, and ROI on growth initiatives.
• Commercial & Operational Finance: Support sales and customer success teams with financial data to optimise revenue retention and growth.
• Change & Transformation: Drive fundamental change initiatives and lead on associated transformation projects.
• Change & Transformation: Embedding modern ways of including AI, automation, and data-led process improvements
• Governance & Risk: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax obligations, and statutory requirements.
• Governance & Risk: Implement strong internal controls, risk management frameworks, and scalable financial processes.
• Governance & Risk: Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and investors.
• Operational Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a small but high-performing Finance and Business Services function.
• Operational Leadership: Instil a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and commercial focus.

Skills and Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within an SME or high-growth technology/SaaS environment.
• Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, subscription business models, and revenue recognition principles.
• Commercially astute with the ability to link financial insight to business strategy.
• Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial SME setting.
• Tech-savvy - embraces automation, AI, and data-led decision-making
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at board level.
