This is a TPD post within the GP School on the Bradford training scheme. There are 2 sessions available overall. Salary is GP01 GP Educator Pay Scale. The post involves developing Postgraduate General Practice and Primary Care Education, working with the Bradford scheme Training Programme Directors, Senior Management Team and colleagues to deliver functions that ensure quality of training within the scheme.

The role directs and manages specialty training placements and rotations across Local Education Providers (LEPs) and General Practices (GP). It supports the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions aligned to the NHSE mandate and focuses on learner supervision, assessment, experience, faculty engagement and educational outcomes, with emphasis on whole workforce transformation and multi-professional links.

Responsibilities

To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors will work across health and social care within a team to reflect changing service models and deliver an integrated workforce from multiple professional backgrounds. Annual appraisal and feedback on involvement in postgraduate education and training should be provided by the Deputy Head of School.

Requirements and Qualifications

Qualifications and Training

  • Primary clinical healthcare qualification
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
  • Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development at appropriate level in the Trainer role

Desirable

  • Working towards higher professional qualification such as Diploma or Masters in Medical Education

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
  • Understanding of the work of general practitioners and other health care practitioners and their challenges
  • Knowledge of adult education theory and delivery in service
  • Understanding of developments involving Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, NHS organisations and regulatory bodies
  • Active involvement in and up-to-date with appraisal processes
  • Knowledge of the NHS structures and processes, including healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters, the Gold Guide and educational theory
  • Proactive approach to personal CPD as a clinician

Desirable Experience

  • Recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity experience in the last 3 years
  • Expertise in supporting doctors in difficulty
