Overview

We are looking for a Portfolio Director to join us in GBRX. This role leads major programmes and investments to leave a positive, long-lasting impact on society by building a transport system that connects people, communities, and opportunities across the UK. What you'll be doing

• Inspiring leadership - guide and empower talented teams to deliver large-scale programmes with purpose, quality and care, meeting commercial, sustainability, and client requirements while safeguarding GBRX's corporate position.
• Shaping strategy - develop bold, forward-looking initiatives that respond to passenger needs, sustainability goals, and industry trends; create a clear roadmap to achieve business objectives aligned with industry opportunities.
• Creating impact - ensure projects and investments deliver tangible value for communities and stakeholders, from government bodies to industry partners.
• Championing collaboration - build strong relationships and balance perspectives with a wide range of strategic partners and stakeholders, including government bodies and investors, supporting innovation and revenue-generating opportunities.

Who we are excited to meet

We'd love to hear from you if you can bring:

• Proven experience in leading complex projects and programmes, delivering them on time, within budget, and aligned with organisational goals. Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and manage investment portfolios.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, investors, and industry partners.
• Strong understanding of business planning, investment cases, and preparing strategic papers to guide senior-level decisions. Ability to identify and manage risks effectively to support project and investment success.
• In-depth understanding of the railway or transportation sectors, including regulatory requirements and industry dynamics, or relevant experience in infrastructure-focused industries.
• A strategic thinker with a track record of leading innovation, solving complex challenges, and delivering transformative results in dynamic environments.
