OverviewOur Clean Energy practice is looking for a senior associate/Director to join our Energy Regulation and Commercial Contracts team. This is a fantastic team with an enviable client list doing great quality work. You will be working with top onshore and offshore renewables developers who are driving the transition to net zero across the UK. Progression opportunities will be discussed as part of the recruitment process.This team is central to the service we deliver to our Clean Energy clients. We advise both on regulatory change and on a wide range of high value, complex and unusual contracts. The practice covers an exceptional range of work and no two days are the same.We are looking for a senior lawyer with strong commercial acumen who enjoys the cut and thrust of working with clients on high value commercial negotiations. We are also looking for someone with the ability to apply complex regulation in a client friendly and intelligent manner to help our clients deliver their goals.Examples of the types of work involved include:advising on major regulatory reforms such as grid connections reform and offshore transmission (OFTOs), and on the emerging regulation of hydrogen, interconnectors, heat and carbon capture and storage etc.advising on more settled regulatory matters such a licensing under the Electricity Actcontract drafting, negotiation and advisory work on regulated contracts such as grid connection agreements, Contracts for Difference and power purchase agreementscontract drafting, negotiation and advisory work on complex compensation and mitigation agreements driven by the consenting process for clean energy projects, such as co-operation and co-existence agreements between offshore projects with overlapping seabed rights, wake loss agreements, civil & defence radar mitigation agreements and biodiversity net gain agreementscontract drafting and negotiation on a wide range of other clean energy related contracts, such as pre-construction survey & consultancy contracts, onshore and offshore crossing and proximity agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, development services agreements and joint development agreementsproviding grid and commercial input in the context of M&A and financing transactions.Experience in some of these areas is preferrable.We are looking for candidates to join our busy but helpful and friendly team.
