Strategy & Commercial Director, Business Banking role at Monzo Bank.

We’re looking for a strategic, commercially-minded leader to shape the future of Monzo Business Banking. As part of the leadership team, you’ll define the long-term commercial vision and drive high-impact outcomes across products and go-to-market strategies, helping to build and scale products that bring the Monzo experience to more businesses.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role, ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, thinks strategically, and operates in a fast-moving, often ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Commercial Picture: lead Business Banking planning and performance, from forecasting to supporting critical strategic decisions. craft a clear commercial strategy across channels, products, and markets.
  • Navigate Our Strategic Course: monitor the effectiveness of initiatives and financial performance; use data to adapt strategies.
  • Define the Business Banking Strategy: partner with colleagues across Monzo to shape long-term product strategy with a strong commercial input, including:
  • Develop compelling business cases for product expansion and distribution initiatives
  • Craft pricing strategies and business models for products
  • Make key build/partner decisions for vital product lines and features
  • Present and gain alignment on strategy at senior forums (including ExCo and the Board)
  • Support sales and partnerships initiatives to accelerate growth
  • Take ideas from concept to delivery for new product and commercial initiatives

Qualifications

  • Extensive Commercial Leadership Experience: strong track record of defining and delivering commercial success for a business line, with experience in a high-growth startup/scale-up with P&L accountability.
  • Strategic Acumen: ability to see the big picture, think in systems, and anticipate trends
  • Exceptional Problem-Solving: analytical rigor, commercial viability, and execution focus
  • Adaptability & Ownership: self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and fast-moving environments
  • Collaboration & Influence: ability to connect dots across the business and drive decisions without formal authority
  • Industry Expertise: experience building and growing financial/software products in a high-growth company
  • Humility and alignment with Monzo’s mission
