Your Role
Are you ready for the next step in your career? You will lead a range of projects undertaken by the Catchment Science team within our Sustainable Water Management Consulting (SWMC) group and play a lead role in the development of hydrogeologists within the team, as well as in securing an ongoing pipeline of project work. The role is varied and challenging and is likely to include the following responsibilities:
- Leading the technical delivery of projects covering all aspects of water resources hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, groundwater flooding, monitoring and groundwater quality
- Project Direction including financial and change control and quality assurance through checking and reviewing
- Mentoring, developing and supervising junior colleagues with opportunities for formal People Management; working with the Technical Lead in SWMC to develop a programme of hydrogeology training
- Working closely with the team and the current Hydrogeology and Groundwater Services Lead to develop and agree scopes of services
- Generating high quality bid proposals and developing innovative solutions to meet our clients\' needs
- Producing and supervising high quality client- and public-facing deliverables, with clear communication and the ability to visualise and interpret complex data
- Collaborating with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrogeological aspects of diverse projects, including working with hydrogeologists in Ground & Water, EIA and Mining Teams
- Promoting a safety-first attitude in line with WSP\'s health and safety policy and procedures
Although primarily a UK-based role, you will work collaboratively with teams across WSP\'s global business.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
- Groundwater and Water Resources modelling to support water resource estimation and management, and environmental impact assessment
- A strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and the regulatory framework for UK water management
- Strong project management and direction skills with experience of managing projects from start to finish; framework management is desirable
- A clear understanding of client needs, opportunities and challenges, with a track record of leading and winning work
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and influence at all levels, including the development of junior staff
- Strong commercial awareness with experience of identifying and developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposals
- Excellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to solve challenging hydrogeological/hydrological problems
Qualifications
- MSc in Hydrogeology with a BSc in a related discipline (e.g. geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, environmental science)
- You will have gained, or be working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
