OverviewJoin Arcadis as the Technical Director - Town Planning in our Environmental Planning team. We are seeking a Chartered Town Planner with a strong track record leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects, and experience building and growing teams. The role forms part of the leadership for the Planning and Environmental Assessment and Management (PEAM) Team.Role descriptionAs part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, in diverse locations around the world.We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Climate change, rapid urbanization and biodiversity loss are driving more frequent events such as floods and wildfires, and Arcadis is committed to protecting the environment while delivering for future generations.Role accountabilitiesLead recruitment, growth, oversee bidding and project delivery, and lead on key clients as part of the Leadership team.Coordinate and deliver planning and environmental work undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influence project development and deliver optimal environmental and planning outcomes.Support business development through external market profile-raising activities and engagement with key clients.Raise awareness of Arcadis’ services, win new opportunities, and build new contacts.Actively engage in key client relationships, lead by example and create cross-selling opportunities for the wider business.Engage with consultees and stakeholders.Manage projects and oversee performance on technical quality, commercial, and health and safety.Qualifications & ExperienceExcellent working knowledge of the UK Planning system and consenting process, including EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialismsExperience across a range of project typesStrong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure qualityExperience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skillsExperience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholdersCommercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assuranceRelevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towardsA flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to workExperience in the delivery of DCO/TWAO/Hybrid BillsFull Member of RTPI.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
