John Taylor Multi Academy Trust (JTMAT) believes in the power of education to improve lives – and the world. We are looking for an experienced professional from a civil engineering, construction or project management background to steer our estate strategy and carbon reduction plans into their next phase of development. The successful applicant will be a self-motivated and focused senior estates professional with the ability to work at scale, becoming an integral part of our directorate. You will be working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, with accountability for managing multiple capital projects, and ensuring compliance in all areas including health and safety. Building productive working relationships with key colleagues in our schools and external service providers, you will ensure our estate is safe, warm and dry always, optimising the learning and working environment. This role requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of regulations and statutory guidance, with the ability to project manage programmes of maintenance, repair and upgrade.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least 3 years of working in a senior multi-site estates management environment
  • Be able to demonstrate the successful planning and management of complex projects
  • Have the interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Be proficient in risk assessment and balanced decision making using your own judgment
  • Be highly organised with the ability to balance multiple workstreams with changing day-to-day priorities

This is an exciting opportunity if you’re someone who enjoys sharing their expertise and guidance to support our school staff teams in a sector that makes a difference to children and families every day. Our estate is diverse from older buildings that require more upkeep, to Staffordshire’s first and only brand new All Through School with a sophisticated business management system, yet our geographical footprint is tight. The successful candidate must be able to rise to the technical challenge of the role, and communicate positively through professional relationships, enabling the best possible outcomes across the Trust.
