Account Director
New Today
Overview
We are hunting for an ambitious and energetic Account Director to join our digital agency. You’ll have experience in managing and curating client relationships, writing quotes and proposals and helping drive business growth. In this role you’ll strategise and advocate for clients to support our team in delivering exceptional digital solutions. You might be moving up from an Account Management role, returning to work after a break, or moving sideways into Client Services. A people-first mindset, positive attitude and passion for technology are valued.
The typical day may involve working from home, from our shared office space in central Edinburgh, or at client offices. You’ll report to and work directly with our Managing Director, while supporting our Account Management and Production teams. This role is fast-paced and varied, across client accounts in various sectors and two core tech stacks (PHP and Rails). You’ll lead the delivery of strategy and annual reviews, take briefs, write proposals and quick quotes, chase decisions, brief the team on new work, review billing & timesheets on your accounts, and attend networking events. We’re open to part-time options (down to 4 days) and core hours are 10am – 3pm.
Your Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our portfolio of key clients
- Understand client business objectives, challenges, and opportunities
- Regularly communicate with clients, lead meetings, provide performance and timesheet reports, and strategic recommendations
- Proactively identify and address client needs, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention
- Travel within the UK to meet clients as required
Strategic Account Growth:
- Identify opportunities to upsell agency services to existing clients
- Develop and present proposals and quick quotes aligned with client goals
- Collaborate with internal teams (strategy, design, development, PM)
- Monitor market trends and client industries to provide proactive insight and recommendations
- Lead and mentor a small team of account managers
- Oversee the delivery of small client projects and ongoing support, acting as the client advocate while the PM team manages budget, timelines and deliverables
- Manage client budgets and ensure profitability of accounts
- Contribute to and manage your leads in the pipeline
- Pull and monitor timesheet reports and manage billing for your key accounts
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, completing Statements of Work
New Business Development:
- Support new business efforts by participating in pitches and presentations
- Lead on smaller RFPs
The Requirements
We’re looking for someone with:
- 3+ years of experience in an account management or digital agency role
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent written skills with the ability to independently create proposals, quick quotes and statements of work following our house style
- Proven ability to manage and grow client relationships and accounts
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused mindset
- Strong understanding of the digital landscape, technologies, best practices & standard tools (Google Analytics, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Basecamp, for example)
- Experience and confidence working with Content Management Systems
- Keen to lead and manage situations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-centric environment wearing many hats across many accounts
The Package
We offer:
- 35 days holiday
- 8 paid Emergency Days
- Hybrid & flexible working with core hours (10am - 3pm)
- Part-time options available for the right candidate (4 days)
- Aviva Private Health Insurance
