Responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing, developing, and maintaining a network of professional and intermediary contacts.
  • Make recommendations to enhance existing procedures and controls.
  • Market the Property Finance brand, including networking and promoting the business to secure new client introductions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a wide and varied knowledge of the external economic and competitive environment and how that impacts the business and performance.
  • Help drive appropriate culture and values across the team and division.
  • Promote new business opportunities which should be suitably researched to make sure they are of sufficient quality and comply with relevant lending policies and credit risk appetites.
  • Deliver against annual divisional new business, income and cost management targets.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of clients to ensure that high levels of customer service are maintained at all times.
  • Oversee the processing and management of all loan accounts and applications in your portfolio of customers, from initial enquiry through the due diligence process, management of the account during its life span and through to final redemption.
  • Interview potential and existing borrowers for the purpose of considering new proposals and alterations to existing facilities.
  • Prepare credit applications for submission to the divisional/bank credit committees.
  • Attend credit committee meetings in support of applications and to consider applications submitted by other lending managers.
  • Carry out customer visits and on-site meetings to monitor progress and maintain good relationships with your portfolio of customers.
  • Attend meetings with professional advisers and intermediaries as appropriate.
  • Promote and give regard to clear and fair service for customers, and the reputation of the bank.
  • Ensure that all direct line reports are aware of their responsibilities for the management of risk and operation of controls and that any compliance failures, risk incidents and control issues are reported and escalated in a timely and transparent manner.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with other senior members of staff across the division to maximise efficiency.
  • Ensure that all governance and compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the relevant regulatory bodies are carried out to the standards required.

Qualifications

  • Strong industry focus and understanding.
  • Proven track record of generating new business.
  • The ability to communicate at all levels across the division and wider group.
  • A team player and able to manage different situations.
  • A proven track record of managing clients and their expectations including non-performing situations.
  • Proven risk management skills.
  • A flexible and responsive approach to change.
  • Able to make logical decisions and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • An ability to produce credit applications and correspondence of a consistently high quality.
  • Good understanding of credit risk policies and appetite.
  • Able to display balanced commercial judgement to include an understanding of the clients concerns and perspectives and how they align with the bank’s position.
