The role requires anticipating demand, identifying and remediating service risks, and maintaining continuity across a complex landscape of internal teams and external service providers.You will build and lead high-performing teams, including Service Operations, Data Science, and Analytics, delivering data-driven insights and operational excellence. A key aspect of the role is engaging and influencing senior stakeholders both internally—across ExCo, the CEO, and the Managing Director—and externally, including OFGEM, DESNZ, Energy Suppliers, SEC, REC, and service providers, to ensure effective service delivery and an exceptional customer experience.You will drive a strategic, customer-focused approach that integrates vision, processes, people, and technology to maintain the integrity and reliability of DCC services.How you will contribute to transforming energy and shaping the future.Strategic Leadership & Service Operations Management: Provide vision, innovation, and strategic direction for Service Operations, including people development, financial management, business planning, and partner/vendor management.Operational Excellence & Incident Management: Oversee day-to-day service operations, incident and problem management, major incidents, and security monitoring, ensuring quick resolution and minimal customer impact.Process Standardisation & Alignment: Ensure operations follow standardised ITIL-based processes, integrate with Change Delivery Methodology, and align with other business functions for consistent, efficient operations.Data & Insights Leadership: Lead the Data and Insights function, driving a data-driven approach, high-quality reporting, data transformation, and systems development to support internal and external stakeholders.Customer Experience & Innovation: Use data and operational insight to enhance customer experience, automate processes, improve decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across Service Operations.Your skills that will enable us to fulfil our purpose:Strategic Operational Leadership: Extensive experience in technology, energy, or telecommunications, managing large-scale IT infrastructure, embedded software, and service integration to deliver high availability and resilience.Team Transformation & Development: Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams through process improvement, performance management, hiring, and behavioural guidance to achieve higher performance levels.Customer & Stakeholder Focus: Highly responsive and customer-focused, with experience navigating complex customer, supplier, and regulatory ecosystems to ensure service reliability and strengthen organisational reputation.Data & Process Expertise: Experience in data-intensive environments, applying operational insight and innovation to improve processes, resolve defects, and enable informed decision-making.Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, and foster collaboration across teams for optimal outcomes.Key Stakeholder ExposureExecutive-Level Engagement: Direct interaction with DCC ExCo, Board, and other senior functional directors, shaping key strategic messages and decisions.Cross-Functional Influence: Collaboration across multiple operational and corporate functions (CTO, Service Delivery, Commercial, Finance, Regulation) to drive aligned outcomes.Industry-Wide Visibility: Engagement with service providers, customers, and technology innovators across the smart energy sector, providing insight into cutting-edge developments.Regulatory and Government Interaction: Exposure to energy industry regulators, government stakeholders, and policy discussions that influence national infrastructure.Strategic Operational Ownership: Opportunity to lead key operational initiatives while managing critical stakeholder relationships that impact the performance and reputation of a national-scale network.About the DCCWe’re powering Britain’s smarter, greener future.
