We seek a Director in the Translational & Clinical Genetics team to provide strategic leadership and hands-on analyses to deliver a portfolio of translational data–driven activities that can impact the GSK portfolio. The role focuses on genetics with emphasis on causal inference, and integration of genetics with genomics (including proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data. Work will inform target and biomarker discovery, disease and mechanistic understanding, patient stratification, and treatment response within precision medicine contexts.You will lead a team within a multidisciplinary environment, collaborate with internal GSK scientists and external partners, and build external collaborations aligned with strategic priorities. You will be supported in developing scientific leadership, presenting research, and publishing peer‑reviewed work.ResponsibilitiesLead activities to progress translational genetics programs, applying deep expertise in statistical genetics to generate scalable insights from genetics, genomics (including proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data.Provide strategic leadership and hands-on analytics to identify, develop, and deliver programs impacting the GSK drug development pipeline.Lead cross-functional project teams with emphasis on respiratory, hepatology, neurodegeneration, immunology and/or renal disease.Identify, set up and oversee external scientific collaborations.Communicate analysis findings clearly to project teams within and outside the Human Genetics & Genomics organization.Deliver personal and team outcomes against objectives with strong statistical, analytical and translational context.Stay informed about emerging translational genetics technologies, including causal inference approaches, and evaluate their potential for adoption.Lead a team, foster innovation, collaboration, and ongoing professional development; promote a culture of learning.Basic QualificationsPhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biomedical statistics, computational sciences, bioinformatics, machine learning) with impactful publications/presentations.Extensive experience integrating genetics, genomics (notably proteomics) and clinical phenotypes to address translational questions in drug discovery and development.Expertise in genetic causal inference (Mendelian randomization) and understanding of emerging methodologies.Ability to develop and implement new methodologies to integrate genetics and genomics for translational questions in drug discovery.Ability to identify key scientific questions and develop innovative analytical solutions to impact the drug discovery pipeline.Strong proficiency in R or Python with reproducible, scalable code aligned with FAIR principles.Experience in line management and developing team members.Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.Preferred QualificationsExcellent collaboration and partnership skills across internal stakeholders.Experience setting up and overseeing external collaborations.Experience working in different trusted research environments (TREs).Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams to meet timelines.Familiarity with stages of drug discovery and development.Why GSK?Uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.
