GSL Education London Branch is excited to be looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join a friendly and supportive coeducational secondary school in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Finance Officer who is passionate about working in education and making a real difference behind the scenes.

If you are a skilled Finance Officer with strong organisational skills and a good understanding of school finance systems, this role could be perfect for you. As a Finance Officer, you will play a key part in supporting the school’s daily operations and financial planning.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Finance Officer who is ready to start as soon as possible and commit to a long-term role. This Finance Officer position offers great experience within a school environment and the chance to work with a dedicated team.

Finance Officer Responsibilities:

Manage daily financial transactions and records

Process invoices, payments, and expenses accurately

Support budgeting and financial planning

Maintain clear and organised financial files

Prepare reports for senior leaders when required

Monitor income and expenditure

Ensure all financial procedures follow school policies

Work closely with staff and external suppliers

Finance Officer Requirements:

Previous experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar finance role

Must be comfortable working with purchase ledgers as this is a big portion of the role.

Experience working in a school setting is preferred

Good knowledge of basic accounting and finance systems

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel

Excellent attention to detail

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

A professional and reliable attitude
