Supply Chain Director

We’re supporting a global value-add distribution company based in Leicester, as they seek a hands-on and strategic Supply Chain Director to take charge of a function central to their ongoing growth.

With multi-SKU complexity, high service expectations, and aggressive growth targets, the business requires a stabilising force - someone who can drive operational performance while developing capability and embedding best practice.

The Opportunity

• Lead the end-to-end supply chain function across procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier performance.
• Coach and support a talented but overstretched purchasing team, providing hands-on leadership and structure.
• Shape and implement a scalable supply chain strategy aligned with business growth and margin improvement goals.
• Introduce best practice around compliance, sustainability, inventory optimisation, and working capital control.
• Champion ERP utilisation and supply chain digitisation to enable accurate forecasting and real-time decision-making.
• Act as a key bridge between supply chain and commercial/finance leadership.

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (Master’s/CSCP/Six Sigma desirable)
• Extensive experience leading supply chain functions in complex, fast-paced businesses (distribution, logistics, manufacturing)
• Proven track record of delivering operational improvements and managing multi-SKU supply chains at scale

Skills & Knowledge

• Deep expertise in procurement, logistics, inventory, and vendor management
• Strong understanding of UK/international trade, customs, and compliance
• Proficiency in supply chain software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, ERP platforms)
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to drive cost savings without sacrificing service
• Exposure to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and modern supply chain technologies (AI, automation, digital transformation)

• Hands-on and credible leader with the ability to stabilise and develop high-performing teams
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with gravitas to operate at senior leadership level
• Calm under pressure, adaptable to change, and capable of making effective decisions in a high-growth environment

Location & Flexibility

• Based in Leicester, hybrid working (3–4 days/week on-site)
