Technical Director HV Plant/Primary Design (Substations) – Stantec, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Technical Director level HV Primary Plant Engineer to join Stantec's energy and resources business within the Transmission and Distribution team. The role can be based anywhere in the UK and offers the opportunity to contribute to growth and deliver projects at varying scales.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the HV team for electrical substation design projects, including FEED and detailed design for refurbishment/extensions and new-builds.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines and coach the wider T&D team to deliver innovative and practical solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of the transmission and distribution sector, engaging with key T&D clients in the UK.

About You / Qualifications

  • A relevant Degree in electrical engineering is required; ideally a Chartered Engineer (IET).
  • Experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE), as defined by National Grid's TP137, or an equivalent role for other clients; TP141 HV Substation qualification is an advantage.
  • Pro-active in building knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; capable of coaching and developing the T&D team; able to contribute collaboratively and share knowledge.
