Overview

The opportunity is for a Technical Director level HV Primary Plant Engineer to join Stantec’s Transmission and Distribution team. The role can be based anywhere in the UK. This is a senior position focusing on developing and leading the HV team for electrical substation design projects, including FEED and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions, and new-build projects. The role supports the company’s growth and energy transition objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the HV team for electrical substation design projects.
  • Lead FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and ensure high-quality technical delivery for T&D projects.
  • Coach and develop the wider Transmission & Distribution team; engage with the engineering community and drive innovative solutions and best practices.

About You

  • Pro-active in building knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
  • Capable of coaching and developing the wider T&D team; engaged in the engineering community.
  • Able to develop innovative and practical solutions; understand how issues fit into larger solutions.
  • Strong collaborative contributor, sharing knowledge and valuing team input.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A relevant Degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and related components.
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer (IET); experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) per National Grid TP137 or equivalent; TP141 HV Substation qualification is advantageous.
